Services were launched in March 2005, originally operating under the name Nawras. As Oman’s data experience leaders, Ooredoo provides individuals and businesses with cutting edge digital products and services, so that customers can enjoy the internet. Ooredoo – the digital partner of choice

Oman is becoming increasingly technology driven and digitally focussed and the future of the market lies in data and innovative digital solutions. For businesses, this means going beyond the traditional and moving to digital. Over the years, Ooredoo Oman has cemented its position as the Sultanate’s digital partner of choice to businesses of all sizes.

Challenging market norms

Originally founded in the Sultanate as the challenger mobile operator under the name Nawras in 2004, Ooredoo Oman has worked to keep people connected. The company was awarded the second fixed licence in Oman in 2009, and a year later became a publicly listed company on the Muscat Stock Market (MSM). In 2012, Ooredoo initiated a network upgrade programme with an unprecedented level of investment.

In 2014, the company rebranded to Ooredoo, to align with the global group it was a part of; a leading international communications organisation that delivers mobile, fixed, broadband internet and corporate managed services tailored to the needs of its customers and businesses across the Middle East, North Africa, and Southeast Asia. Ooredoo Oman has since been part of the international Ooredoo Group’s portfolio of 11 operators around the world which serves approximately 164 million subscribers.

While the change added incredible value, particularly in terms of marketing, the initial transition phase was challenging. However, the company has been able to achieve fantastic growth within the industry over the years, penetrating the market and making a difference by bringing everything digital to the Sultanate. A community-focused company, Ooredoo is guided by its vision to enrich people’s digital lives and its belief that it can stimulate human growth by leveraging communications to help people achieve their full potential.
